PROJECT DESCRIPTION

19 Lang Parade is a 7-storey office development built in the heart of Milton’s commercial precinct. Featuring large open plan floors and a rooftop recreation area, it provides a prime location for the astute commercial tenant.

STRUCTURAL SYSTEM

Reinforced concrete two-way spanning slabs were designed to span all the levels including the Ground Level transfer slab over the carp park. Concrete columns and a combination of concrete masonry and reinforced concrete loadbearing walls were used to support the floor slabs.

Timber roof trusses were specified to provide both large spanning capabilities and to give an economical solution to the roof structure.

SIGNIFICANT ASPECTS

The triangular shaped corner of the building extending over the driveway entry incorporated a large cantilever and had to be supported with careful integration of up-stand reinforced concrete beams, which formed the windowsills.

Whilst not typically used in commercial buildings of this nature the specification of residential style timber roof trusses enable large spans as well as fast and economical construction to be achieved.
