This facilities has 1600m2 of office space, 6500m2 of warehouse and 5500m2 of hardstand area located adjacent to the Brisbane Airport Runway. As such, higher wind loads needed to be accounted for. In addition due to the nature of the tenants business activities significant racking and vehicle loads were designed for.
To account for large settlement parameters, the warehouse and office space utilises suspended slabs supported on piles. The warehouse consists of structural steel portal frames and bracing, with precast concrete dado panels.
The office is two storeys and comprises of precast concrete beams, blade columns and tilt panels, with suspended concrete ground and first floor slabs.
Due to the expansive area needing to be piled and the depth to rock the piles needed to found into, significant time was spent working closely with the developer and piling contractor to minimise project costs. This was achieved through an efficient structural design that optimised the balance between the suspended concrete slab costs and the piling costs. The added advantage of this close working relationship helped to deliver this project 10 weeks prior to the tenant occupancy date.
