The Qantas Link Lounge is a new building extension off the existing Northern Satellite link. The new lounge provides two new loading gates and seating for regional Qantas passengers. The new lounge structure has been designed to replicate the existing terminal aesthetics and structure.

The Qantas Link Lounge consists of a long span post-tensioned suspended concrete slab supported by concrete columns and concrete pad footings. The new suspended deck has been designed for future expansion including a new aerobridge connection and new lounge roof. A temporary steel roof currently covers the suspended concrete deck until the future expansion occurs.

Due to the existing in ground conditions the existing terminal structure has settled over time. With advice from the geotechnical engineer the new structure has been detailed to accommodate differential settlement between the new and existing structures. The Qantas Link Lounge has also been designed to accommodate the client’s future expansion plans.
